Validation of Non-Invasive Hemoglobin Monitors (Smart Hb)

TVI is supporting the Social Innovations of TECH4LIFE ENTERPRISES by engaging in the validation study of its Non-Invasive Hemoglobin Monitor (SmartHb) in the Primary Health Facilities and in community settings.

The validation study is aimed to confirm the accuracy of the final prototypes of non-invasive hemoglobin monitors and test the application, acceptability and its feasibility of the device in community setting in two phases (Validation phase and Feasibility phase).

The non-invasive hemoglobin monitor allows easy screening and monitoring of anemia in all age groups. The device detects hemoglobin levels using the nail bed of the finger without drawing any blood.

The device is an innovation of Tech4Life Enterprises, which uses a specific frequency of Near Infra Red (NIR) light that gets absorbed in the hemoglobin molecules of the blood. The non-invasive hemoglobin monitor will be used by health providers, especially the frontline health workers to monitor hemoglobin among healthy residents and patients.

People with chronic anemia and blood disorders can also use the device for self-monitoring. The device detects hemoglobin levels in less than 60 seconds.
