Healthcare utilization behavior and nutritional status of women and children in Peri urban areas of Karachi, Pakistan

The survey aims to determine the health and nutritional status of women of reproductive age and children under 2 years living in the peri-urban areas of Karachi through anthropometric measurements and to gain a better understanding of the health care utilization of this population group, especially during the perinatal and postnatal period.

The survey will provide the evidence for designing interventions according to the needs of the community and to determine the most effective strategy to improve nutritional and health outcomes during subsequent pregnancies as well as growth trajectory of the children.

The data will also provide baseline estimates to compare the impact of any future interventions such as nutritional supplementation during pre- and post-partum period on maternal and infant outcomes.
