Engaging Private Providers for Immunization Services in High Risk UCs of Karachi
The objectives of the project is to fill supply side gaps for zero dose vaccination and EPI services by implementing private provider engagement models in selected high risk union councils of Karachi. The project focuses on delivery of accessible, affordable and quality routine immunization services. TVI is delivering following two stream of work within specified period of time.
Director Service Delivery by TVI
TVI is establishing 9 vaccination static centers for RI (Routine Immunization) and other integrated maternal child health services. These centers would be established and run within existing private sector clinics/pharmacies/maternity homes. Each static center will cover 25,000 population and will be operational with a core team of vaccinator; lady health visitor/ midwife, clinic assistant, and community based female counselors for household visits and awareness session on RI.
GP-Model
The other model to improve immunization status is delivery of free RI and zero dose services by existing private health facilities such as medium sized private practitioner clinics and maternity existing private health facilities will be supported for setting up 9 static centers. Child friendly rooms/ corners will be set up by TVI for provision of zero dose and RI as well as nutrition and WASH counseling. This will include refurbishment, basic equipment, vaccines and cold chain. WASH and nutrition well baby kits will be also provided for children. Trained female vaccinators and RI counselor will be deployed by TVI in existing private health facilities.
