Health Drive

Activity

Trust for Vaccines & Immunization (TVI) organized a remarkable initiative, the Ramazan Health Drive, aimed at improving child immunization coverage and enhancing access to primary healthcare services in District East & West Karachi. Running from April 1st to 6th, 2024, this impactful campaign extended across nine TVI Primary Healthcare (PHC) centers, establishing a total of 18 medical camps strategically spread over the two districts.

The primary objective of these special health camps was to provide integrated health services and create a favorable environment for vaccinating children within the targeted communities. Each day witnessed three medical camps catering to diverse age groups and genders, effectively delivering comprehensive care and promoting health awareness.

Service rendered during the health events included:

  • Medical OPD catering to all age groups, accompanied by complimentary medicines.
  • Distribution of Delivery & Newborn kits to pregnant women attending ANC/PNC visits & TD Immunization sessions.
  • Child vaccination according to the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) schedule.
  • Nutritional screening for children under five years, coupled with deworming interventions.
  • Health education and counseling sessions addressing prevalent community health issues.

The Ramazan Health Drive gathered significant participation, with a combined OPD attendance of 3,170 individuals across both districts. Particularly, 440 patients aged 0-23 months, 580 aged 2-5 years, and 805 aged 5-14 years benefited from the healthcare services.

Furthermore, the medical camps administered crucial vaccinations, including BCG, Pentavalent, PCV, Rota, IPV, and MR vaccines, totaling 92, 118, 105, 82, 67, and 72 children, respectively. Additionally, a significant increase in TD immunization uptake among pregnant and lactating women was observed, with 551 females receiving TD immunization and delivery/newborn kits.

The Ramazan Health Drive stands as evidence of TVI’s unwavering commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility and promoting the well-being of communities, especially during the holy month of Ramazan.
